Copyright Protection and Safety Boxes

Many writers worry about someone stealing their work. It does happen on occasions and most writers have a horror story to tell, usually about someone else. Happily it is a very rare event but that does not mean you shouldn't take some form of protection. You can of course print out your full manuscript, send it by registered post to yourself, then either sit on it, never opening the envelope or put it for safe keeping in a bank.

What we are offering is to hold your unprinted files for you, up to 1.4k of files (equivalent to a floppy disk) and imagine what that would cost in printing. This will be date registered, saved to CD and stored in a bank. The service will cost only £5.00 per annum. There will be a small recovery fee of £5.00 should proof of registration be required, or should you for some reason need your files returned.

My personal horror story is the reason for this service. I had just completed my 90,000 word novel when my hard drive failed. Never mind, I thought, it was safe on a floppy disk. Except that the floppy disk crashed as well. I did eventually recover my novel, but it was a pre-edited version that a skillfull technician managed to recover from the hard drive. Other short stories and poetry were lost for ever (I did have hard copy, but what a lot of typing to put all that back). Believe me, I take no chances now, and yes, I have got a vested interest but I will certainly be using this service myself.
