The course is for anyone interested in expressing themselves on paper,
developing their creativity and finding out more about how to write for
pleasure and perhaps profit. You will look at all kinds of fiction, poetry and
other sorts of writing. You will be able to explore ways of improving and
developing your own writing 'tricks of the trade', possible markets and how to
plan and organise your ideas in an informal group led by an award-winning
novelist and short story writer.

This programme is also offered at Undergraduate Higher Diploma (Ug HDip/HND),
Diploma in Higher Education (Dip HE) and Licentiate. The Undergraduate Diploma
award (UgDip) in Journalism is an integral part of our Bachelor degree
programme in Journalism and hence students may continue their studies for the
Bachelor degree award on successful completion of the Ug Dip at a later stage.
To qualify for the UgDip award students will be required to complete the
relevant number of Core Course Modules in Article Writing, Editorial Writing,
Publication Management, Multimedia Publishing, News Reporting, Creative Writing
and Critical Writing. The Programme also contains a number of Common-Core
Course Modules (General Education and Electives) to be selected from a wide
range of Courses being offered by other divisions within the College. The
academic requirements for the above-indicated awards are as follows: Ug

Express yourself with a bit of creative writing on this course. Manchester
Education Resettlement Centre (MERC) is for adult students who don't fancy
mainstream colleges. The reference to "resettlement" in the title is because
many of the students who attend the courses have been going through periods of
resettlement in their lives. This may be because they have had problems with
drugs, alcohol, mental ill health or may have been in trouble with the law.

This course aims to provide students with the opportunity to develop their
creative writing skills, including descriptive writing, play-writing, poetry
and short stories. Students will need to complete a unit of study in order to
gain a certificate. The course is for students who have an interest in writing
creatively and wish to develop their skills. You will produce work using a
range of writing styles. On successful completion of the course you will be
awarded a North East London Federation (NELAF) certificate. You will need to be
able to read fluently and write independently. However, assistance will be
given with spelling and grammar. You will be asked to attend an interview where
you will be assessed on your reading and writing skills. Upon completion of the
course you could go on to take other courses at the College. You may find this
course helpful as a preparation for GCSE English.

Creative Writing allows writers to take the next step with their work, whether
learning how to integrate writing into their life, or realising the potential
professional success the art offers. The class provides the opportunity to work

Deals with the contemporary picture book, its writing, illustration and
production. The course is an introduction to book art in general and the
graphic novel in particular, and is suitable for anybody interested in this
kind of illustrated book. The unit aims to improve students' grasp of drawing,
