the derelict sensation
'the derelict sensation' is a collaborative project set up to explore the
various meanings and experiences people have had of derelict buildings. The
launch is going to be in the Midland Grand - perhaps London's grandest derelict
building (the St Pancras Station building) - in July 02, as part of a gala
evening to raise money for an incubator for University College Hospital.
The project will invite people to share their experiences by videoed interview,
through photography or through writing and is designed to develop through
collaboration - for example, it may eventually become an anthology. It has
already been booked for further live events.
In this early stage of the project we are looking for example texts,
photographs and video pieces to include on the website and at the launch
night... which is where you might like to come in.
We are looking for short pieces of writing - prose, poetry, non-narrative,
other (!), which convey your experiences of 'the derelict sensation' however
defined. If you are interested and want a longer explanation, please mail
thederelictsensation@hotmail.com for our proposal document. If you want to
discuss it further, email Ben Bruges at the same address, or at
benbruges@hotmail.com.
