The Meeting

What if...
The summer breeze flowed through her flimsy top
Her dog scampered about her ankles
In the distance she saw him approach
He rounded the lake at a slow steady pace
And approaching with caution
She looked at his face
His eyes betrayed him no words were needed
And the dog shivered in his presence
She sat down on a bench, he joined her
Silently they looked ahead
At children on swings and slides
And dogs on leads chomping at the bit
And as she turned to face him
Drinking in all his features
She could not find the words
And so standing up she took her dog
And began to walk away
In the background he was still sat
And maybe one day she would have the courage
To finally say
Are you my dad?
