The Harriet Storer Page

Harriet says: 'I am age 11 and I live in ****. I have lived here for a year but before that I lived in England.I have a passion for poetry and here are a couple of them for you to read. When I am older I want to be a vet but for now I would like to write a kids book of poems written by a kid.'

Two Poems

by Harriet Storer

Master Tom

(Written when I was 9)
There once was a little boy and his name was Master Tom
he sent two missiles and a rocket and a big huge bomb!
they went up in a gigantic flame
we knew Master Tom was the one to blame
he denied it through and through
he went to court and jail too
Tom lied until his throat was sore
he's never lied like this before!
parts of houses all over the ground
ashes and black soot scattered around
the streets were deserted,no-one was there
Tom was alone but he didn't care
he laughed and he jumped with glee
he chuckled ha ha hee hee hee!
he had the village to himself
but then poor Tom turned into an elf
he did not like it, all at not
for he should never have planned that plot!

Zebras

Stripy zebras in the open grass
raising their heads when a car would pass
lazing sleepily under a big palm tree
we creep up quietly so we can see
in the safari car we are looking for you
though tourists have seen you caged up in a zoo
wild and wonderful, chomping away
lay down for the night for the night from a playful day
galloping over the wide open space
baby tries to run how fast is his pace
eating quietly, nothing stirs
just then danger occurs
being chased by a tiger
over hills and fields
tiger says - your one of my meals -
then there's a silence and one zebra gone
but four other zebras are still chomping on.
