              Breaking Free

Breaking free
Hair once brown now red
eyes once blue now brown
for she was breaking away running free
of her conservative image
no more sensible skirts

breaking free, free from
sensible shoes, greys and blues
giving in to the freedom to be
to be someone who stands out in society.

Purple lipstick not brown
red hair red coat a new girls in town

but had she realised a change of clothes
does not change the person inside
she felt uncomfortable took down her hair
took out her brown contacts breaking free
is a state of mind not bowing down
to society being who you really want to be.

Sometimes in order to be free
it could be the way you walk,
your state of mind, the abilty
to trip out play, be one at one

so please join me.....

How She Smokes

How she smokes
How she smokes hard
how she thinks breathing words of meaning
singing words that hit like shards
feeling blue.

How she smokes hard
reminiscing tales of being on the road
crushed dresses in suitcases, food out of cans
this was not the life she planned.

How she smokes hard
her voice shatters illusions of ladylike intentions
yet her beauty tells a different story.

How she smokes hard
her fingers dancing along the sax
hips that wiggle, tears in her eyes.
