The Inspiration Station - Prose
Forget the guff, I've read the instructions before, just take me there!
Do you need some inspiration? We all do at times and even well published
writers use a variety of 'tricks' to get their imagination flowing.
To help you along (and us as well) we've written this ideas generator. First
it generates a first name, then a last name. This is to get you thinking about
a character. What does he/she look like? How tall? Thin? Fat? Miserable?
Happy?
What does he/she do for a living? What sort of house etc.
Then to make it more interesting, there is a feature that you should try to
include in your piece of prose. It might only be a cigarette but it could be
something more dramatic like a snowstorm.
Lastly, there's the genre you are to write it in. But at all times remember,
the idea is to give you inspiration, if you need to change any part of the
'starters' then do so. It's better that you start writing than puzzling how to
make everything fit.
Remember you'll never write anything without that very important word - the
first one.
Your Character's first name is:-
Try to make use of it as it stands, if this fails try changing it slightly -
would a wrong spelling add a new dimension?
Your Character's last name is:-
Does it 'do' anything for you yet? Can you think of a hyphenated name?
What happens if you change a few letters?
A feature to use :-
So, how can you use this? Start thinking, but you haven't finished yet
.
You need a genre - and here it is:-
Now that you have the basis for your work of art, spend just a few moments to
think about it - but not too long. Then pick up your pen and write or start
clicking those keys and get that most important word written.
Try Again - but don't use it as an excuse for not writing!
(You only get one more try without starting from scratch)
