Amy Planter, a journalist who wants to go freelance, senses a story when an old
lady called Colette is horrified at what happens at a charity event in Weyton.
Amy is invited to meet the Lady of the Manor at Highborough by her son Tony
Duncan.
While there, Amy meets Andrew Carthew, an author who is actually writing a
novel about the life of Colette an old friend of Mrs. Duncan. Tony is ill and
he marries his nurse Gloria but after he dies she claims the Highborough Estate
for their child. Colette is shocked when the thwarted Gloria sets fire to the
Town House in Weyton and dies in the flames. There is one more shock awaiting
Colette when an impostor claims he is heir to her old friend`s Estate.
Amy and Andrew draw closer and Colette supplies them with the true story of her
life experiences.
