Ascriber / Writers Eyes Workshop - 27.

The Classics

Skip the Workshop take me straight to the submissions

When did you last read a book by a classical author? Workshop 27 is reliant on you having some knowledge, so if you haven't read any classics lately, start reading now.

Classic writers, as modern writers had their own distinctive style and their manuscripts were laboriously handwritten. So in these days of computer technology, this workshop should be easy, even for the laziest of us. It'll certainly suit me and I no doubt will contribute towards it, so please don't let my piece of work stand lonely and awaiting companionship.

The first part of the workshop can be done lying in bed and makes a good excuse for a 'lie in'.
Choose a piece of classis literature (Poets can choose some poetry). Read a goodly proportion of it and then write in the style of that author or poet. You can write a short parody or perhaps just the start of a similar novel, the main thing is the style in which you write.
Article writers can write an article about the classics. The options are many, from how styles have changed to comparisons between books and their authors throughout the ages.

Short stories 2500 words or less
Poetry 40 lines or less.
Articles up to 1500 words
