A Footprint

Skip the Workshop take me straight to the submissions

I always take my dog for a short walk late at night and the other night it had been snowing, and there behind me was a beautiful trail of footprints telling the world of where I'd walked. We then had a hard frost and the following evening, 24 hours later, there was still my trail of footprints going along the road, with the occasional shuffle by a hedgerow where I had to stop for a few moments. I then got to thinking about types of footprints, how trackers can follow slight marks on the ground to catch up with their prey, mud brought indoors onto a plush cream carpet by the little boy (or girl) who'd been playing out in the rain. And of course the fossilised remains of dinasaur prints made so many millions of years ago.

So this workshop is simple, your tale, or poem must be about a footprint, or even several prints. There is just one slight snag though, this time of the year is the season of ghost stories and so it must have at least the slightest hint of a ghostly tale.

Genre - Ghost story
Short stories and articles no longer than 2500 words
