By the Side of the Road

Answer the questions and use the answers to write your short story or poem.

A person is at the side of the road, male or female?

Is he/she waiting to cross or watching out for something to happen?

He/she stoops to pick something up, what is it?

As the person is looking at the item there is a noise in the distance, it could be a gun, a drum, a car backfire or the sound of a train or something completely distance.

What is the weather like? Is the person dressed accordingly? (it could more interest if not).

So that's the basis for your workshop, now build it up into an interesting story or perhaps a humerous poem.

As usual, the best of luck and we are looking forward to seeing your work.

Short stories 2500 words or less
Poetry 40 lines or less.

Articles up to 1500 words but your Workshop is slightly different. We want an interesting article on some other aspect of roads. So think about it.

Road Safety?

Street light pollution - what happens to plants and animals living in a well lit environment?

The flashing beacon just outside your bedroom window?

That annoying hole in the road that's been there for the last month.

We want something really original, so start thinking We are looking forward to seeing your work.
